NEWS, a WINNER, and WHIFF OF JOY CANDY!
There's a big buzz in the Humble Pie kitchen this week! We have a bit of sad news and some very happy news to share with you today , and more AMAZING news just ahead (but we can't tell you yet, or it will ruin the surprise!)... Let's just say that you'll be feasting your eyes on something WONDERFUL very soon, and we're having a hard time keeping the secret!
What I CAN share with you today, however, is that Zoe, one of our amazing and beautiful Guest Bakers for February, has agreed to stay with us in the Humble Pie kitchen! YAY! I strongly urge you to drop by Zoe's blog to see just what this girl is capable of... We love her - we're sure you will, too! She's done some fantastic work already, and just wait till you see the stuff that's coming up! (There's SO much going on behind the scenes, you are going to be blown away!)
Now I must give a very heartfelt THANK YOU to our friends who played along with our One Embellie challenge last week! Not an easy one, was it? The majority of us are so comfortable combining elements like bling, ribbons, chipboard, flowers and what have you, that we often find it difficult to SIMPLIFY! (Maybe we should all start making more MASCULINE cards, right?) But I digress...
We're glad to see that our new link system seems to be working well, and that you've all seen how easy it is!
The winner of the Umbrella Ellie stamp and goodies, as told by my friends at random.org, is lucky #2!
CONGRATULATIONS, Maria Matter! Here's the adorable snowman card she made, with that one little snowflake brad as her embellie:

(she made it look so easy, didn't she?!)
Maria, please send me, Leah, an email with your snail mail address, at spazzicassi@yahoo.ca, and I will send your goodies out to you (as soon as we're no longer snowed in!). :) Kudos!
SO... Do you want to know how you can win THIS?

or THIS?

or maybe get one of THESE emailed to you?

Well..... we have LOTS of stuff to give away this week!
One lucky winner will receive the beautiful Whiff of Joy "Charlotte on Carpet" stamp, now available at The Town Scrapper! Another lucky winner will receive "Sitting Ellie", exclusive to The Town Scrapper! And "ANGEL MAGGIE" is back by popular demand! EVERY participant for this challenge will receive the Angel Maggie digi via email - if we haven't sent her to you already, please be sure to leave a comment with your email address! Remember, you MUST play along to get this digi, and your project must be created NEW for our challenge!
If you happened to drop by on WEDNESDAY to see what we've been up to in the Humble Pie kitchen, you'll have seen a fabulous and SIMPLE tutorial for those easel cards you've been seeing all over the place. Some of our Bakers were a little intimidated by the concept, but after checking out THE TUTORIAL, we were all ready to dive in! Lisa's easel card tutorial was posted on the blog today, so have a look in case you're not sure what you're doing. (I have never made one, so the tutorial is very handy for me!)
This ends the term for our AWESOME February Guest Baker, Bonnie, and that is our very SAD news! Bonnie, you have been a wonderful addition to the kitchen, and we are so sad to see you go! Thank you so much for your hard work and your enthusiasm - we hope you'll be back again soon, and please don't be a stranger! Friends, DO swing by Bonnie's blog to leave her some love and let her know how much she'll be missed! Here's her easel card:
(dontcha just LOVE these warm, lovie-dovie colors and her sweet Flower Maggie?)

February Guest Baker turned SENIOR BAKER, Zoe (THRILLED to have you with us on a long-term basis, girlie!):
(is her Angel Maggie card not absolutely WONDERFULLY creative and lovely?)

Senior Baker Lisa (our easel card queen!), cookin' up some yummy, sweet Dusty monochromatic pink action:

Senior Baker, Kim S., giving us an amazing shabby chic concoction using Berry Maggie:

Senior Baker, Shelly, doing GORGEOUS things with her Nestabilities and Sitting Ellie:

Are you inspired yet?
Go to it! Here's the tutorial, for those of you who haven't made an easel card - trust me when I tell you it's NOT DIFFICULT! And it looks fabulous!
You have until MIDNIGHT (EST) next THURSDAY, March 4th to link your entries up for a chance to win this GORGEOUS Whiff of Joy "Charlotte on Carpet" stamp, the ADORABLE Humble Pie "Sitting Ellie" stamp, and to get the LIMITED EDITION Humble Pie "Angel Maggie" digi sent to you via email! HAVE FUN!

Easel Card Tutorial
Super Baker Lisa brings us today's easel card tutorial. She tells us it's super easy and fun to make.
Step 1:
Cut a 5"x5" piece of cardstock for the front of the card

Step 2:
Cut a 10"x5" piece of cardstock for the base and score it at 2.5" and 5".

Step 3:
Add patterned paper and a popped up sentiment to the large part of the base (as shown) below.

Step 4:
The 5"x5" piece of cardstock will be the front of the card. Decorate the 5"x5" piece of cardstock and attach it to the base with tape or glue. The popped up sentiment will keep the front in place.

Hope you have enjoyed today's tutorial!
Be sure to check out our Friday challenge and the design team samples HERE. And if you’d like to play along, please post a link at the bottom of that post and you’ll have a chance to win the Ellie stamp from Phebe at the Town Scrapper!

Congrats to our Dies challenge winner, and let's see ONE EMBELLIE!
WOO HOO! I love posting our winners and our new challenges, and showing you all what our FABULOUS Bakers have been up to in the kitchen! I love posting on Fridays because I'm excited to share all the wonderful talent with the blogosphere, and to showcase the fun Humble Pie stamps, but also because IT'S FRIDAY! :) Bringing another work week to a close (for many of us).
Today, we would like to thank you all again for the FANTASTIC amount of participation we saw in last week's Die-Cuts Challenge - it was GREAT to see the different uses for your Nesties and your Cuttlebug and your Sizzix and your Quickutz (players were welcome to use any of these!)... SO many gorgeous creations! And of 23 wonderful entries, our dear friend, Mr. Random.org, has chosen....
lucky #8!
THIS card:

belonging to STEPH! Congratulations, Steph! Flower Maggie is YOURS! (as well as a few other little goodies that I can squeeze into the envelope!) Please email me, Leah, at spazzicassi@yahoo.ca, and I will happily send Maggie off to her new home! :)
Now that the happy news for Steph is out of the way, ON TO THE NEW CHALLENGE!
This week you'll be playing for the following prize:
UMBRELLA ELLIE rubbah stamp! (EZ-mounted only, to be used with acrylic block)

plus a small assortment of goodies to get your mojo goin'! :)
The challenge? Use only ONE type of embellishment on your project! That means you can load it up on flowers, but you can't use brads to attach 'em, or bling in the centers... That means if you go for buttons, there can't be any ribbon or string. I know, it's a tough one, right? :) Well, let's see how our Bakers struggled, and hopefully you'll find some inspiration here...

NOPE! Doesn't look like anyone had TOO difficult a time with this one! So if you'd like to play along, for your chance to win Umbrella Ellie and stuff, PLAY ALONG! You have until next THURSDAY, February 25th at midnight EST to link up your entry, and your project MUST be created new for this challenge. You don't have to use Humble Pie stamps, but we'd love to see 'em if you've got 'em! :) Have fun, folks! See you on Monday for another Showcase!
*Please note that we are trying a new feature on our blog, so you can now click at the bottom to link up to your project (remember, to the blog POST that features your creation, rather than to your general blog)... It works like Mr. Linky, and it seemed to serve us well for the last challenge. Let's hope it continues to do as it's told! ;)

Donald Trump said WHAT?
"I try to learn from the past, but I plan for the future by focusing exclusively on the present. That's where the fun is."
Yep, that's a Donald Trump quote! Can you believe it?
What a great way to look at our past, present and future, without dwelling or obsessing, and always moving!
The past is behind you; take what you've learned, and apply it to all you do today, because that will set you up for a better future.
And have FUN, already. Too often we look on our past with frustration and disappointment. If we have fun doing what we're doing NOW, it will give us a reason to smile later.
How ya like dem apples? :)

a little tip on Tuesday!
Hi friends!
Just a quick tip to share, with those of you who love your Nestabilities and want to use the embossing feature (because, well, they're GORGEOUS!)...
First of all, it's no secret that the Nestabilities will work with other die-cutting machines. But in order to emboss, a mat is needed, and Spellbinders has the tan embossing mats that can be bought in many stores.
HOWEVER, if you go to any hardware store, you can pick up a DIY Gasket Kit, like this one, for a MUCH better price! These kits come with two rubber mats, and they work perfectly in place of the Spellbinders mats!
This is Leah, offering up some cost-effective solutions, 'cuz we crafters need all the money we can get for new stamps and papers! :D
Have a great day, and we'll see you tomorrow with a FABULOUS tutorial from our Queen Crafter, Phebe! :)
