Please follow the sketch as closely as possible, and use any image you like. Humble Pie stamps are not necessary, but we'd love to see them if you've got them! You have until midnight on Thursday, November 5(EST) to submit your creation. A winner will be selected by random.org and Phebe , owner of the Town Scrapper, has $10 in Humble Pie Money waiting for a lucky winner to spend on Humble Pie stamps of their choice.

Just one more sleep and it's Halloween! Hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween.

TUTORIAL-"STAMPING" ON A CANDLE!

This week's tutorial is brought to you by Kim, our Humble (Pie) Design Team Co-Ordinator.
This is one of my favourite techniques! Not only can you get fantastic results, but it's FUN, too!

I have made so many of these candles, that I've lost count! They make great gifts!

Supplies Needed:

White Tissue Paper
Unscented candle
Stamps
Ink Pad
Colouring medium (I've used both Prismacolor pencils, and Copic Markers for equally fantastic results).
Heat tool
Wax paper
Optional - Glitter glue

Step 1:
Cut out a piece of tissue paper the width of the height of your candle, and long enough to wrap around the candle.

Step 2:
Stamp (and colour) chosen images on to the tissue paper. I used Memento Tuxedo black ink this time, but have used Stampin' Up ink as well, with equal results. I did find that the ink bleeds through the tissue paper, so be sure to protect your work surface.

Step 3:
Now, the fun part! Tear off a piece of wax paper long enough to wrap around your candle, with about 8-6" left over.

Wrap your stamped tissue paper around your candle, and wrap the waxed paper over top of the tissue paper, grasping the wax paper with the excess wax paper, to hold the candle.

Heat with your heat gun - keep the gun moving to avoid scorching, or overheating which could leave a dent in your candle. Basically, what happens, is the tissue paper melts right into the candle and the wax from the wax paper puts a protective coating of wax on top of tissue paper.

Optional: add stickles, glitter, etc. The only limit is your imagination!

Here are some examples of candles I have made in the past. Using coloured ink on your stamp eliminates the step of colouring, and looks fab! (if I may say so myself).

HUMBLE PIE'S INTRODUCTORY TIP AND TRICK TUESDAYS

GOOD MORNING AND WELCOME TO HUMBLE PIE'S INTRODUCTORY TIP AND/OR TRICK TUESDAYS' POST!!

This ingenious intial tip is brought to you courtesy of our very own BAKER EXTRODINAIRE, LISA!  Lisa has offered to disclose her clever method for effective UNMOUNTED STAMP ORGANIZATION.

STORING UNMOUNTED STAMPS:
Here is my helpful tip for you today; I store my unmounted stamps in CD cases which are all numbered as you can see with the picture below.

Here is the CD case opened, as you can see there is a lot of room to store stamp sets in the same CD.

I have a binder with all my stamps stamped or photocopied into the book and the pages are marked to match the CD case that it is in. I also have other stamps in this case that are stored not in CD cases for example my Close to my Heart stamps sets. On the pages below you can see the first set is in CD 8 and 9 and the next page is in CTMH storage #12.

Below are all my Close to my Heart folders and as you can see they are all numbered too so I can find them easily when needed.

I find my system works for me.  I love that I have all my stamps in my binder so I can view and find the stamp I am wanting quickly any easily.
Lisa

Thank you to Lisa for revealing her inventive storage solution for the multitude of stamps, one can very quickly accumulate!  I'm certainly going to utilize Lisa's approach to maintaining some semblance of order with my many unmounted stamps!

STAY TUNED FOR NEXT WEEK'S NEW TIP AND TOMORROW'S WICKED WEDNESDAY TUTORIAL!!!

Please contact our phearless leader, Phebe, (info@townscrapper.com) to use your Humble Pie Bucks!

We, the HUMBLE PIE BAKERS decided to switch-it-up a bit for this week's challenge. We abandoned the oven; some of us opted to head downstairs to the laboratory for some experimenting, while others gathered 'round the cauldron to work on creative concoctions. It was time to develop some earth-shattering, spine-tingling, jaw-dropping HALLOWEEN-THEMED, NON-CARD designs and quite frankly, I think we've succeeded!

This week we challenge you to devise a HALLOWEEN-THEMED, NON-CARD item. We realize we're a new player in the stamping world, therefore the use of a HUMBLE PIE image is NOT MANDATORY. If you have managed to obtain a HUMBLE PIE stamp or image however, we encourage you to incorporate it into your challenge submission!

Now, for some frightful, yet delightful inspiration for this week's challenge, compliments of the HUMBLE PIE BAKERS. Go ahead, don't be scared, take a peek!!!

HUMBLE PIE'S INAUGURAL WEEKLY TUTORIAL

OK FELLOW BLOGGERS, how about we heat things up in the kitchen? DRUM ROLL PLEASE... Introducing HUMBLE PIE'S WICKED WEDNESDAYS' WEEKLY TUTORIALS!!!! The HUMBLE PIE BAKERS have agreed to impart a few FAMILY FAVOURITES' SECRETS with all of you. Now, the very first of very talented Bakers to divulge her oh-so-special recipe for HOMEMADE BLING is, LEAH.

Make your own BLING tutorial

Here are the items you'll need (and you may prefer a craft blade to the scissors for easier cutting):
  • transparency sheet (mine are frosted, because i have a TON of them leftover from my husband's art school years!)
  • flourish stamp (plus acrylic block if not wood mounted)
  • a good permanent ink (i recommend StazOn)
  • any colours or varieties of Stickles or Liquid Pearls, or acrylic paints, provided the bottle has a fine applicator tip
  • Glossy Accents (i use 3d accents - a friend from England sent it to me and it's the same thing)

Step 1:
stamp your flourish onto your transparency and allow to dry. i like a flourish with a bit of extra detail, but simple ones work well too. allow sufficient drying time, or heat set to speed up the drying process. i use black StazOn for just about EVERYTHING, and they look great on a darker cardstock, but you can use lighter colours (even white) so the ink is less noticeable.

Step 2:
cut out your flourishes. it's not necessary to get right to the lines! they should look like this:

Step 3:
adhere your flourishes to your project with Glossy Accents. just add a few dots, and stick, and don't worry about whether or not you can see the glue through the transparency (it will be hidden when you cover the design with your Stickles!).

Step 4:
using the fine tip of the bottle, make little dots around the flourishes. space them however you'd like, depending on your design and what you'd like the finished project to look like. i use a larger dot of my Stickles or paint where the lines are thicker as i like the variety and the overall look.

Step 5:
allow your Stickles or paint to dry, and voila! inexpensive BLING!
